Dear Christianity.
I’ve known of you my entire life, but I never got to know you until recently.
I’m sorry for that.
In Vacation Bible School you were fun. If I knew enough about you, if I memorized enough verses in the Bible, I got stickers and candy.
I knew that…
It’s not about the BBQ’s, the lake or the pool. The white pants (what the heck?) or Red white and blue swim suits. It’s not about shouting ‘Merica or baseball. It’s about the men and women, ordinary people, who sacrificed having a normal life to serve, protect and die for this country. It’s about the blood shed from brave soldiers on American and foreign soil. It’s about the liberties and constitution that helped us gain and control our power and people. It’s about the accomplishments this country has made to overcome slavery and racism. It’s about the BROTHERHOOD that comes with joining the Armed Forces, that no stupid sorority or fraternity could EVER understand. It’s about FREEDOM. All the things we are able to do and say because of our FREEDOM that we EARNED through battle and hardship. So did you really reflect on our troops or prayed for them and their families? Or did you just get your tan on and have a couple beers? Keep this in mind when Fourth of July comes around.
ps. I don’t mean to offend anyone I just had to let this out of my head and into words.
